Scratch League Match Derbyshire vs Nottinghamshire

Monday 16th August 2021 at Trent Lock Golf 7 Country Club

Firstly, I would like to say a massive well done to all the girls who competed for the scratch team this year, you’ve made me as Captain, as well as Alice and Eleanor incredibly proud. With Nottinghamshire being our toughest opponents yet this season (most of their players being off low single figure handicaps) a win was amazing. This essentially meant coming joint first as we beat the league winners on the day! However, on countback of matches won, unfortunately it was second place overall for Derbyshire in the scratch league this year - still a brilliant result. Izzie has been on top form all season and to come away with a 4 & 3 win for Derbyshire was amazing. Never being down in her match, she cruised through her round. I had a really tight match against a 1 handicapper with it never being 2 holes apart either way. I was really happy to be 1 up going down the 18th and thought that my par was enough for the win but unfortunately my opponent made a fantastic birdie with the final putt to square the match. An all-round tough match but an exciting one. An amazing performance by Eva where she played some great golf and held her own against another 1 handicapper but unfortunately eventually lost 4 & 3 in a very tough match. With this being her first season competing for the scratch team she has performed brilliantly and has been a great addition to the team. An amazing performance by Olivia coming away with a great 4 & 3 win against a single figure handicap golfer with great golf played on the day, being 6 up through 9 holes. An amazing start to an excellent win. Finally, I would like to say a massive well done to Millie with this being her first scratch match for Derbyshire and to come away with a 3 & 2 win is an extra special bonus! Congratulations Millie. You have all made me very proud and I have felt extremely honoured to be your captain and the support from everyone has been amazing. A massive congratulations to all the girls, here’s to next season.
