Men's Interclub Foursomes - Div 1 - Devonshire Cup Rules

1. Each club shall be represented by four players who must have been members of the club from 1st January 2024.
2. A Club need not be represented by the same four players throughout the course of the competition.
3. The Competition shall be FOURSOMES, without handicap, one Club against another as determined by the draw which shall be made by the Committee. Each couple shall play one round of 18 holes, and the Club having the most holes to their credit on the combined result of the two matches shall pass into the next round. In the event of a tie in any round, one nominated pair only shall play sudden death holes until one side is declared the winner.
4. The venue for the match will be the course of the Club whose name comes out first in the draw.
5. The result of each match MUST be notified to the Secretary by the winners on the day the match is finished.
6. The draw for the semi final will be made July 2024. The venue for the semi final will be the course of the Club whose name comes out first in the draw. The FINALS shall be over 18 holes played on a neutral course selected by the Committee and shall be played on Sunday 11th August 2024. IF YOUR CLUB IS ELIMINATED YOU MAY BE ASKED TO STAGE THE FINALS AS A NEUTRAL COURSE IS REQUIRED. If your Club enters this competition, please bear this in mind when arranging your Fixture Lists.
7. Consistent with England Golf Championship decision the use of phone based DMD is not allowed. Mobile phones must not be used for any purpose other than in an emergency and must be turned off at all times and kept in the player's bag. Any player seen by his opponent or County Official of breaking this rule will lose the hole for the first breach and all the remaining holes for a second breach.
8. All matches are governed by the rules of the R&A and local rules of the course over which the match is played.
9. Buggies: players must not ride on any form of transportation during a match unless authorized by the DCG Championship Committee(see England Golf transportation policy at www.englandgolf.org which includes provisions for people with disabilities.
10 . A competitor is allowed to play in more than 1 division providing he has the appropriate handicap, he cannot play for two Clubs during the Competition.
11. A player is eligible for his Division providing his Handicap Index falls in the above parameters, 7 days prior to the match taking place.
12. All disputes shall be settled by the Competition & Handicap Committee whose decision shall be final.
13. Entries for the above Competitions must be sent to the Secretary by 26th Feb 2024, the draw will take place on Tuesday 27th Feb 2024
14. Clubs are asked to grant privilege of a free practice round over their course to their opponents if possible.
15. The name, address, telephone number and email address of the person responsible for arranging the matches of each team must be included on the entry form so that it can be sent out with the draw.
16. The home club's representative must contact the away team's representative within 7 days of the closing date of the previous round. If a date cannot be mutually agreed, it must be played on the closing date. Contact for the first-round fixture must be made by the 28th March 2024. A minimum of three dates, including a weekend must be offered by the home side. Failure to do so will result in the loss of home advantage.
