Chesterfield Girls win the Junior League

After the disappointment of 2020 where the league did not take place, the Junior Development Group were determined that the competition should go ahead in one form or another. 8 teams had expressed an interest in taking part, and following a discussion with those clubs, it was decided to hold the event as a knockout competition, with a plate for those losing in round 1. That way each club were guaranteed at least 4 matches.

Whilst this is not strictly a League, I do believe this was quite successful, and discussions will take place over the winter to see of this format should continue.

There were also a number of firsts this year, with a composite team from Chevin and Chatsworth, and an all-girls team from Chesterfield.

So, firstly a big Thank You, to Kedleston Park for hosting the two finals. Kedleston will no doubt receive many calls for tee times etc, so it was really appreciated that they found time to support this event.

In the plate the two teams were Chesterfield (Boys) playing the composite team from Chevin and Chatsworth. The match ended in a draw with both teams winning two games, but the winners by holes won, were Chevin/Chatsworth.

In the main final, Breadsall 1 faced the Chesterfield Girls. This was quite a close game with three of the four matches ending on the 18th Green. The eventual winners by 3 points to 1 were Chesterfield Girls.

Congratulations and commiserations to everyone who took part, including those teams not making the finals, and thanks to all the clubs and Junior Organisers for making the events happen, often in still quite difficult circumstances.
