Sunday 8th August saw 49 Derbyshire golfers contest the Derbyshire Open, Orr Cup.
The weather was most unkind for the majority of the day with the golfers spending the majority of the time under umbrellas and restricted by waterproofs.
For a time 69's from reigning champion Craig Longmore and Joe Clarke of Burton held the clubhouse lead but by the end of play, local player James Booth and Nick Newbold both returned great scores of four under par 66's to force a play off. Thankfully the rain held off for this and after the obligatory 3 extra holes, all were played to par. This led to sudden death and it took 4 more holes before a winner was declared.
Nick is pictured above receiving the cup from President Cynthia Machent. Matlock proved excellent hosts on a most inclement day. Golf won!!
