On 3 September Sally Benn and Gill Lockwood travelled to The Thonock Park Golf Club at Gainsborough for the PING 4BBB Grand Final. Earlier in the season, over 7,500 pairs of ladies from 871 clubs across the country had competed in their qualifying rounds at club level, with the top fifty scoring pairs qualifying for the Grand Final. Sally and Gill had qualified from their club competition at Ashbourne with a superb score of 48 points and were excited to be playing in the final. They were even more pleased to be in the prizes when they clinched 6th place.
It was a glorious day weather wise and the course was in lovely condition with very slick greens. It was also quite breezy so club selection at times was quite tricky. Gill and Sally started on the back nine and scored very steadily contributing evenly to a very good score of 22 points. Four 3 point pars were crucial to their total. On the more tricky undulating front nine Gill was slightly more consistent, as the pair clocked up a creditable 19 points for an overall total of 41, their back nine score securing 6th spot from three other pairs also on 41.
