Nick Taylor triumphs at Breadsall Priory


It was a breezy but bright day for the 2018 Amateur Championships held at Breadsall Priory Golf Club on Saturday 26th May 2018.

48 Derbyshire golfers arrived to try to become this years Derbyshire Amateur Champion.A tricky first round on the Priory Course was evident as the CSS rose from 70 to 73!

In the afternoon things were a little easier on the Moorland Course but again the CSS crept to 72 from 70.
Nick Taylor emerged triumphant from the local Breadsall pairing of Sam Potter and Will Davidson whilst Darren Cooper took 4th place. Nick is pictured receiving the trophy and President's Prize from Paul Longden alongside Breadsall Priory Captain, Dennis Hill.

Nick will now have the chance to represent Derbyshire at the England Golf Champion of Champions Competition which will be held at Woodhall Spa on Sunday 16th September 2018.
The top 8 players qualify for the DCGL Match Play which will be held at Chapel en le Frith Golf Club on 6th & 7th October 2018

Taking the Trophy to Breadsall Priory for 2018 were Sam Potter, Will Davidson and Phil Rhodes.

Breadsall Priory will represent Derbyshire at the England Golf''s English Champion Club at Huddersfield Golf Club on 22nd & 23rd September 2018.

1. Derbyshire Amateur Championship President’s Prize and the West Cup (36 holes scratch)
Open to members who qualify as follows: handicap maximum 9
The qualifications for playing in the Amateur Championship and County matches shall be by birth or membership of an affiliated Golf Club to Derbyshire County Golf provided that since 1st January of the preceding year the player has not taken part in a Golf Championship of another County Union or represented another County Union at Golf. Entrance fee : £25.00
In the event of a tie their will be a play off immediately at the end of play. It will be over a selected 3 holes and if still tied will become sudden death until a result is obtained. Champion will represent Derbyshire at Woodhall Spa on 15th Sept.

2. The Union Shield Competition, 36 Holes Medal Play (Scratch). Entrance fee £15 per club
Best three scores from each Club. Winning Club to represent Derbyshire in the English Champion Club 22nd/23rd September 2018 at Huddersfield GC

3. Prize for Best Scratch Score in 1st and 2nd Rounds.

4. Vice President’s Prize, 36 Holes Medal Play (under Handicap).

5. Prize for Best Nett Score in 1st and 2nd Rounds.

6. First 8 competitors to qualify for the Derbyshire Match-Play Championship.6 / 7th Oct at Chapel en le Frith

Entries limited to players with a handicap of 8 bona fide, must be made on entry forms enclosed,

£25 entry fee -NO ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT FEES, OR AFTER 10th May

Consistent with England Golf Championships phone based DMD’s are not allowed.

Golf ride on buggies’ players must not ride on any form of transportation unless authorized by the Derbyshire County Golf Championship Committee (see England Golf Transportation Policy)

‘Neither the Host Clubs nor the Derbyshire County Golf can accept responsibility for thefts and/or accidents. Players participating in Championships must carry their own insurance cover.
All meals required must be ordered direct from the caterer at the Host Club at least one week before
The competition is limited to 60 competitors. In the event of too many entries being received, the Committee reserves the right to
eliminate, by ballot, the higher handicaps. Those eliminated will be placed on a strict handicap reserve list and offered places when available.Partners and Starting times will be drawn for and sent to all Club Secretaries.
The Committee also reserve the right to refuse any entry.
