First of all I’d like to thank everyone, Alice, all the parents, all the girls and anyone else who has been a part of my journey, for making this the best last junior year for me and the best year for me to captain! Monday we had what was my last ever scratch match for the girls! But was also a very important match for all of us as it was the final which would determine if we came first after smashing absolutely all of our matches so far and halving one!
We were all soo motivated and prepared for this day and were so determined to beat Notts in the finals! But also excited for a fun day together as a team!
First of all we had Hannah on the tee, Hannah was playing the best player of them all from Notts and tried her hardest but sadly lost, a very tough match that was for her especially considering how well she’s been playing.
Second on the tee was Imi. Imi was also playing a very low handicapper and good golfer, Imi took her all the way to the 18th hole where she unfortunately lost after still playing an excellent round of golf!
Next on the tee was me, I started the round off on a high as I was two up after 9 holes, this very quickly changed as I was 1 down after the next couple of holes, however I managed to pull through and win on the 18th. We knew Ella, the next player was one up on 17th( so therefore guaranteed at least a half). This meant that , after an early win by Lucy our 5th player, we had halved the match already with Nottingham. We then needed Ella to win her match for the win against them!
Next was Ella who played excellent as she was 2 down after 9 and managed to pull it back as she not only made it to the 18th but sunk her put for her win and also to secure the win against Notts!
Lucy, who although was our final player actually managed to finish her match before anyone else with an absolutely amazing score against her player! Lucy won her match 7&6 against an exceptionally good player! Well played Lucy!
This meant that not only did we win our match against Notts but we won the league!!! This is the first time in 18 years that Derbyshire have ever come first in the scratch league!
Well done to every single Derbyshire girl at Trent lock Monday! Not only did the scratch team do excellent but both the handicap team and the nine holers did incredible and Derbyshire players definitely won the most by far in the presentation!
