What a great start to the season and great day it was on Monday for the Derbyshire girls! We have started the season on a high with a great win against Lincolnshire and a half again Leicestershire! We knew the matches wouldn’t be easy however we had a great feeling and managed to succeed highly in both matches.

The order of the first match against Leicestershire went Hannah, Imi, Lucy, myself and Izzy.

On the first tee we had Dorothy (the Derbyshire dragon) there to help us feel less pressure and calm our nerves, this sure did work.

Hannah started us off with a high; she halved her match against a very hard opponent. Very well played, and we knew we were off to a great start. Second off we had Imi who struggled at first and  dropped to 4 down with only 4 to play, she then won the next 3 holes but unfortunately despite a gallant effort she sadly ended up 1 down after halving the last L . Next up we had Lucy who had a very tough morning and unfortunately she lost against a great player. (However she was just warming up for her next round  ).  Next up was me, I was successful in this match and managed to win on the 15^th hole. By this time we had one and a half wins and it was all down to Izzy to get us the last one, Izzy was a superstar, who showed maturity and ability beyond her young age and managed to smash it for the team! She came in with her 7&6 victory and allowed us to half our match against Leicestershire.

Then came the sandwiches and chips for us to refuel our energy for the next round! (thank you girls for the birthday card from you all)
