Match Report Squad v Matlock Men Sunday 27^th March 

We had unbelievably good weather for late March at Matlock Golf Club. This is an annual fixture which everyone looks forward to. The games are always competitive but played in the very best of spirits. This proved to be the case this year and there was a lot of friendly banter on the first tee.

Highlights of the day were Mel Davey’s birdie, eagle, birdie 3 holes played after her visit to the half way house. This went a long way in securing a 6 and 4 win with her playing partner Catrin Russell. Our County President, Cynthia Machent, also got in on the eagle action with one on the 11^th hole.  There was a first squad appearance for Millie Mee of Horsley Lodge Golf Club. With the help of her playing partner, Lorraine Proudler she also secured her first win, 4 and 3. With winning outcomes for Grace Harrison and Jenna Ward, Lesley Watson and Sarah Lundy and a half point for Cynthia and Sandra Maxwell the squad came away as the winners. The final score was 4 ½ to 2 ½ in favour of the squad.

My thanks go to Matlock Golf Club and Captain Neil Abdy. The course was in great condition for the time of year. Also, thanks to Paul Mooney for organising a competitive and sporting opposition. Final thanks go to Judy Gascoigne and Shelagh Lancaster for staffing and organising the fantastic half way house.
