Match Report Derbyshire v Shropshire 7^th July 2022

This was our first second team match, played at Burton on Trent Golf Club.

The Derbyshire squad saw a debut appearance for Millie Mee.  Playing in both the morning and the afternoon sessions.

Lesley Watson and Sandra Maxwell got off to a flying start winning their match 7/6. Millie Mee partnered Jenna Ward and fought hard to gain a half point after being considerably down earlier in the match. Deb Eaglefield and Mel Davey had a very tight matching losing 1 down on the last hole.  So all square going into the singles.

The on form Lesley Watson got the team off to a fantastic start, securing her point early with a win 8/6 and closely followed by wins from Mel Davey and Jenna Ward. This meant we were assured a half match but needed at least half a point to guarantee a win. Vice-Captain Deb Eaglefield last man out and playing home course managed to hold on to her lead and bring home the point.

Many thanks from me to all our supporters on the day and to Burton on Trent GC for hosting our match. The course is looking at its best this year and the food has been great too.
