County 2^nd Team Report – Derbyshire v Staffordshire at Penn Golf Club 03/07/19

 This was our first 2^nd Team Match – playing at Penn Golf Club, a heathland course with many ditches.  Libby and I played a practice round so were able to pass on some great notes for the team, with other players also having walked the course.  So, we were well prepared for our match, playing foursomes in the morning with new pairings for Sandra Maxwell with Lorraine Proudler and Fiona Roberts with Lorna Riley – we had a 2/1 win from Fiona and Lorna and close matches from the other 2 groups.  So,1 point there. 

The singles matches were well fought and with some of the Staffordshire ladies playing their home course, this was a clear advantage and it was going to be tough.  Again, some close matches with Debs Eaglefield losing on her last putt, Lesley Watson halving her match and Fiona Roberts having a great 4/3 win giving us 1 ½ points – coming away 2 ½ points for the day. 

So, we are not downhearted – positively looking forward to our revenge match at Chevin on 11 July.
