Derbyshire Ladies Squad v Senior Ladies – Sunday 23 May 2021 at Alfreton Golf Club
We were able to hold our annual match at its normal time of the year and for 2021, it took place at Alfreton. The course layout and route of holes has changed over the last 12 months and we played from the silver pots which altered many of the par 3 holes.
Rain was forecast and we were hopeful of completing the match in the dry but unfortunately some of us caught the downpour over the last few holes.
It was decided to play American Foursomes Matchplay as opposed to 4BBB Matchplay with many shots given by the Squad – each game was keenly fought by both sides – and the Senior Ladies claimed a 4/3 victory once more – so retaining the Claret Jug. The Senior Ladies have now won 3 times and the squad twice – so watch out in 2022!
The next event is the County Championship on Sunday 30 May at Mickleover – both for men and ladies and it’s good to see our Derbyshire squad competing. Wishing everyone a rain-free day!
