Match Report Derbyshire v Shropshire 22nd July 2022

This was the second team return away match, played at Bridgnorth Golf Club.

After our loss against Staffordshire the previous week we were hopeful of securing a win against Shropshire. After a practice round for some of the team and an overnight stay we went out bright and early ready with a great spirit within the team.

Deb Eaglefield and Mel Davey got a speedy start winning their match 4/3. Lesley Watson and Sandra Maxwell had their work cut out with two very strong opponents. Millie Mee partnering Fiona Roberts tried to hang on losing 3/1 again against very strong low handicap players. So 2/1 down going into the singles.

The on form Mel Davey got the team off to a fantastic start, securing her point early with a win 8/7. Unfortunately the opposition were just too strong us this time.  Vice-Captain Deb Eaglefield last man out managed to hold on to her lead and bring home the next point.  Millie Mee one of our Derbyshire Junior girls took her match to the 17^th losing 2/1 against a very low handicap player. It is great to see our junior girls getting involved with the ladies teams as they are the future.
