County 2^nd Team Report – Derbyshire v Shropshire at Market Drayton 23 July 2019

We played our first match against the Shropshire ladies at Market Drayton in what has been the hottest day so far this Summer.  We had a great team and the morning matches were well fought resulting in a great win for Lindsey Shaw and Fiona Roberts 6/5 with Lesley Watson and Sandra Maxwell, together with Lorna Riley and Lorraine Proudler halving their matches – so 2 points in the morning. 

With the afternoon temperatures rising still further, our ladies set out for their single matches and we played extremely well resulting in 5 wins, so overall Derbyshire Ladies won 7/2 for the day. 

A big thank you to everyone who played and especially Lorna for stepping in at the last minute.  You are all stars and hope Janet C and I were able to support you with plenty of ice and water to keep you going. 

Our return match is at Chevin on 8 August and hopefully the temperatures will be a little less intense.  We are looking for another win, of course!
